“Quis hic locus, quae regio, quae mundi plaga?”

(What world is this, what kingdom, what shores of what world?)

(Seneca, Hercules Furens)

Through her study of the desert landscape Nevena explores the concepts of boundary, limit and void, both as a natural phenomenon and a physical, emotional construct. In her photographs the desert takes a passive role of a canvas, a framework for the story to unfold. Hidden behind the millions of grains of sand, behind the textures and colors, behind the elusive thought and a misty memory an emotion emerges. Does the desert transmit its own will and mood or are we simply reflected in its dunes?
